The building known as the “Cine Teatre Brisamar” was an emblematic structure featuring a highly characteristic and architecturally valuable main facade.
Its current condition—severely deteriorated with visible structural pathologies—led us to propose the demolition of the entire building while retaining the main facade. This retention includes not only the façade’s ‘skin’ but also the volume formed by the stair cores behind it. The floor levels currently present within this retained volume will determine and condition the new floor levels of the new facility.
The proposal also keeps the existing grand staircase that provided access to the building and establishes a new side access for people with reduced mobility, leading directly to the main lobby floor.
We are designing a health space focused on sport and wellness. The planned uses include a swimming pool and other water-related facilities, as well as rooms for practices related to relaxation and physical well-being. This is a wellness activity space that is also a place of wellness in itself. To achieve this, we designed a building that is highly luminous, well-ventilated, connected to the exterior space, and fundamentally open.
